Confidentiality is an essential tenet of the psychotherapeutic relationship and creates a safe space in which the client can openly explore his/her treatment issues. As such, all information discussed in our sessions is kept strictly confidential, with the following notable exceptions:
- If mandated by law by means of court order
- If the client expresses a clear and imminent danger/harm to themselves or to others
- If there is any potential or clear physical/sexual abuse of minors/elders/persons with disabilities
- In cases of medical emergencies
- If client gives written consent to disclose information
- Disclosure of information required by a managed care company for reimbursement
- If accusations of misconduct are brought forward
